About
Michael Owen Jones Jr. is a visual artist and writer. Michael graduated with honors from SUNY Purchase in 2009 and although his voluminous body of work remains well regarded, he has not been considered a notable alumni as of the writing of this bio. Michael’s performance art career blossomed in the early 10’s while working the door at the swanky NOHO celebrity hangout, The Bowery Hotel. A photo in his series of “triangle face” paparazzi photo bombs was noticed by Justin Bieber and referred to as “mood.” This endorsement was echoed by his then 100 million followers.
Shortly thereafter, Michael’s visual art and illustration career began to flourish. Some notable early collaborators were artists Gabriel Garzon-Montano and DD Walker, emerging crypto start up Live Peer, as well as the lifestyle brand, I’d Rather Be With My Dog. Since then Michael has continued to work on a wide range of projects from editorial illustration to fashion merchandising. Michael is currently exploring exciting new opportunities in the NFT art space and writing bios in the third person.
Michael has published a book of illustrations entitled The Whole Thing When He Got There and is soon releasing The First Galapagos Tortoise, a children’s book that he has authored and illustrated under the pen name Mikadu Jahones (a childhood nickname). Other projects include a surrealist graphic novel set in the Amazon as well as a streaming TV series now in development, co-created with editor and longtime collaborator, Christian Capello-Colon.
